Art, Friendships, and the New York School: The Benjamin Gollay Collection, is one of the most personal exhibitions ever presented by the MFA. This exhibition presents approximately 40 paintings, sculptures, and works on paper from this fascinating collection. Works by two of the leading figures of the New York School, Motherwell and Willem de Kooning, are standouts of the collection. De Kooning's Woman from the Elinor Gollay Collection is inscribed "To Ben and Jean from Bill." Among the other artists represented are Norman Bluhm, Robert de Niro Sr., Michael Goldberg, and Milton Resnick. For more information call 727-896-2667.

Clearwater Celebrates America! 4th of July Celebration This event is held on the weekend closest to July 4th. The City of Clearwater celebrates the July 4th weekend with fireworks, food and concerts in Coachman Park. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. on the 4th of July. Give yourself and the kids Fourth of July fun during Clearwater Celebrates America. Gather in Coachman Park, soak up its spectacular Gulf of Mexico views, and prepare for some family-friendly music. Music and family fun. Includes '70s-'90s sounds by Rhythm Method (2-5 p.m.), drum circle (for all ages) by Giving Tree Music (5-6 p.m.), dancing to '50s-'70s music of the Suncoast Band (6-10 p.m.). Make your own music/dance cd with Dance Heads (for all ages), with your head on a dancing cartoon body (3-8 p.m., participants each get free cd). Also George Washington strolling character, Fritzy Bros. One Man Circus, face and body painting (small fee) and viewing of fireworks over Spa Beach Park (9 p.m.)

2008 Miss Florida Pageant Presented by The Miss Florida Paqeant, 42 contestants compete for the title of "Miss Florida." Preliminary competitions June 27 - June 29. Final competition on July 5. Visit the official website for more information. Kylie Williams, Miss Florida 2007, is a Senior at Florida State University pursuing a BS degree in Marketing and a Minor in Communications. She competed in the 2007 state finals as Miss Tallahassee and she won Talent at the State Competition for her rendition of "I Want to Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart" and will perform the same selection at the 2008 Miss America Pageant. She also won Swimsuit and Evening Wear during the Preliminary Competitions.

Museum of Fine Arts features The Photography of Ansel Adams Ansel Adams and the American West celebrates the American master Ansel Adams (1902-1984) and his contributions to the progress of photography as an art form. It also honors his activities that helped to preserve the beauty of the American landscape and our national parks.Thirty of the nearly 60 photographs are by Adams, including several large-scale images.
